House of the Sun

Posted by Liberty on Jan 29, '07 7:47 PM for everyone

I live on the land of beautiful sunrises and majestic sunsets. Alone, or with people I love, watching the sun is one of my most favorite preoccupations. And I chase my sunsets almost everyday. On foot, by car. Sometimes, even by plane.
I have taken a lot of trips aboard small, private planes flown by an old friend, chasing sunrises and sunsets. I enjoyed flying with him and I loved every opportunity I had to watch sunsets, or sunrises up in the sky.
He knew how much I love to watch the sun. Sunrises, sunsets. I'm a lover of those. One time he told me that from above the earth, sunrises and sunsets look the same! Although, he has circumnavigated the globe much more often than I've ever had since he is a also a commercial pilot, I did not believe him right away.
"That could not possibly be!", I declared arrogantly. "The colors of sunsets are different from sunrises". "How?", he patiently asked. "Well, for one, there are a lot of hues of blues in sunrises".
"There are as much blues, orange, indigo, red, yellow and everything else in the sunset colors as much as in sunrises". "No, you're wrong". I argued.
To settle the matter, we agreed that during that summer, he would take me flying as much as he could to prove which one of us was correct. It wasn't long after we took those pre-dawn and pre-dusk trips that I discovered how right he was. Sunrises and sunsets look exactly the same from up there.
The colors, the intensity, the variety, the beauty of it all. Maybe, everybody else knew that. I didn't! Although I learned at third grade that the earth's turn on it's axis as it revolves around the sun, I failed to consider all that.
And whether you're looking at a sunrise or a sunset depends on where you are. The sun's position is constant. At the center of the universe. And it always shines!
Sunrises and sunsets are just illusions! (Ask Jacob  ). That brings me to the real reason why I'm talking about sunrises and sunsets today. Well, as some of you may know, I am travelling to South Asia beginning tomorrow. I may get too busy globetrekking I may not blog as frequently as I usually do.
I will try my best to bring you to my trips by creating a travel blog as I travel but if I fail, forgive me. I promise I will share with you all the fun stuff from my adventures when I come back.
For now, I am leaving you with seven sunrises. One for each day. They are all beautiful, I think. I encourage you to watch each one as the sun rises in the horizon. The sun sometimes rises slowly. But that's mother nature. You can't rush her.
You have a choice to watch them all at one time, one after the other. Or, come back each day, each morning, one sunrise at a time. As you drink your first coffee or tea in the morning.
Each sunrise is a different sunrise from the other one. And each video leads to the next story. I hope it brings you good feelings of love, warmth, hope, dreams and friendship as you watch each one of them.
I appreciate you all for your friendship. You bring sunshine into my life. I carry you in my heart as I travel. A hui ho (until we meet again).
The first sunrise below is actually THE LAST SUNRISE from 2006. It was taken on December 31, 2006 from the island of Kauai.

The next sunrise for you is a Good Coffee Sunrise. Come on. Enjoy your hot cup of coffee (or tea or whatever you love in to drink in the morning), and wait for Mister Sun to appear in the sky. Be patient. He will come out and will make you smile.

And on the days, it's a bit cloudy, just smile. See the clouds? Even the music breaks are part of it all. But things will be alright. Just listen to what Bob Marley says on this sunrise.

You may be in the middle of your week now. All the week challenges may have come in. Your boss hissing at the back of your neck. Your wife or husband asking you if you have finished what they asked you to do for them...or you're in the middle of these sun prowess installation and you're getting bored. Just stay there. Don't quit. It will be short and sweet. Jamaica sweet Mama...It's still a good morning
I figure at this time you may be in need of a little change of perspective. So here comes the sun, Hollywood style, Sunrise by Norah Jones.

That was fun too, wasn't it? But quick, let me bring you back to reality. To the beauty of nature. The way sunrise sounds on my island...

Now we have come to my last sunrise for you. This is a really sweet one, accompanied by a very sweet song called "Sweet Leilani". A boat opens the scene which symbolizes the journey I'm taking. But is it a sunrise, or a sunset? Go ahead, watch and listen to it, and let me know what you think.

Aloha oe...I carry you in my heart.
note: all natural sunrise videos were taken from the island of Kauai, except the 6th sunrise which was taken from the beautiful shore of Lanikai, on the island of Oahu, fronting the Mokuleia islands.
